The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation supported three projects of ISU to establish new laboratories.
The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation supported three projects of ISU to establish new laboratories. Financial support for this purpose is more than 87 million rubles for 2020. The projects are planned to be implemented by 2024.
- ‘ It won’t be a great exaggeration to say that large-scale support for ISU projects means that one of the most important points of the university’s growth is, undoubtedly, fundamental science. Not only the amount of allocated resources is important, although, figuratively speaking, the University will carry out three more “megagrants” and this, of course, is very important and necessary support. More important is the recognition of the prospects and high level of research of the University research teams, the potential of ISU to stand on equal terms with the leading world scientific centers and the prospects of creating a significant center of world science on Lake Baikal’ – Prof. Konstantin Grigorichev , ISU Vice-Rector for Research and International Cooperation, commented on.
Supported projects:
“Multicomponent research of the Universe in large-scale experiments TAIGA and Baikal-GVD” - supervisor Yulia Kazarina , PhD (Physics and Mathematics) “The biotechnological potential of Lake Baikal - the creation of breakthrough technologies and products based on the genetic resources of the unique endemic of the lake” - supervisor Prof. Maxim Timofeev , Doctor of Sciences (Biology). “Quantum-chemical research in the field of acetylene chemistry: new challenges and classical problems” - supervisor Vladimir Orel , PhD (Chemistry). The implementation of these projects involves the establishment of three new laboratories at the University, in which at least half of the research staff are young scientists. In addition, the results of grant development should include dissertations for the degree, patents in priority areas of scientific and technological development of Russia and publication of articles.
The competition held by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation is one of the largest forms of support for scientific projects, comparable in scale of support to megagrants of the Russian Federation Government.
